Stunning paintings by American painters of American subjects illustrate this colourful cube. The works spans an extraordinary period starting with Joshua Johnson, amongst the earliest known African American professional artists, with a painting dated 1806, going on to include Impressionists such as Cassatt, Hassam and Robinson and finally leading to a piece by Realist Edward Hopper from 1939.
