Product Description
The delicate and finely detailed imagery on this Asian themed cube outlines the steps in the traditional cultivation and processing of Tea. The images are taken from a ‘Tea Production Album’ an article that was used to promote Tea, the most important commodity historically in what was referred to as the ‘China trade’. A piece of art created by hand in Canton (Guangzhou), China, worked with gouache, a form of opaque watercolors, on Chinese paper and silk, in the late 18th century, it is the equivalent of the modern day’s marketing brochure, showing the business customer what goes on in the manufacturing process. Firmly rooted in traditional Chinese art, these albums derive from earlier Chinese woodblock prints of the late Ming (1368-1644) and early Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties. This cube makes a wonderful gift for any business person, lover of asian art and beauty or black or green tea aficionado. Includes a detailed storycard.
