These pieces of jewelry are inspired by souvenirs from the Grand Tour period when works of art work were reproduced on pieces of agate from which molds were taken to produce small bas reliefs to be sold. Each piece in this collection, antiqued and hand-crafted in Italy using the ancient "lost wax" process, is an amulet, thought to protect babies in their cribs. Crib Amulet /X-mas orn.- Madonna of the Chair

The Madonna della Seggiola e San Giovannino, also called simply the Madonna della Seggiola was painted by Rafael in 1513 and is today conserved in the Palatina Gallery in the Pitti Palace in Florence. During this time period the artist was commissioned by Pope Julius II to paint the interiors of his private appartment in the Vatican.
