One of the world’s favourite subjects, this Art Cube reproduces imagery from an illuminated manuscript of the late medieval/early renaissance period. Each of the 12 symbols of the Zodiac is presented with both a beautiful ‘miniature’ illumination, but also, delicately traced over the symbol of the zodiac in gold leaf, we find the constellation showing the relative position of the stars. The illustrated storycard explains the history of illuminated manuscripts and the unusual subject of the Zodiac in what was traditionally a religious context.
