Product Description

Our collection includes two cubes dedicated to Antonio Gaudi, one focusing on his architectural facades and the other specifically on Forms& Nature and nature in his work. Both intense cubes highlight photographs of one of the best known architects in history, Antonio Gaudi. The son of a coppersmith, Antonio Gaudí was born in Reus, Spain in 1852. As a child he showed a keen interest in nature, whose various shapes, colours and patterns he found fascinating. This love of nature was later to become a characteristic of his architecture with bone-shaped columns and mushroom-like domes. He constantly endeavoured to design buildings that fitted into their natural surroundings. The images on the cube include facades typical of Gaudi’s projects, the facades are covered by irregularly shaped broken tiles, which fit the curved surfaces perfectly. Although categorised as Art Nouveau, Gaudi created an entirely original style. He was more avant-garde and not always understood by contemporaries. However, he remained firm in his aesthetic convictions and, in the end, was able to impose his views. Gaudí achieves a Neobaroque effect, with natural shapes, rocks, human figures, plants and flowers. Each include a striking large format storycard with information in English, Spanish, Italian, French, Portughese and German.
