"Audubon’s Watercolors Preparatory for The Birds of America (1827-38) Part of the New-York Historical Society’s original mandate was to collect natural history material. Today, the Audubon collection, the largest single repository of Auduboniana in the world, remains the most important vestige of that natural history collection. The New-York Historical Society holds 435 watercolors by John James Audubon. This cube includes images of waterbirds from the collection including: Trumpeter Swan, Horned Puffin, Blue-winged Teal, Little Blue Heron, Great Egret, American White Pelican, Reddish Egret and Greater Flamingo"
