Etruscan Jewelry   Sterling silver and vermeil jewelry inspired by Etruscan Art

Though extremely decorative and creative, Etruscan art was often very practical in its choice of object. Etruscan art flourished from the middle of the 7th century BC to the end of the 6th century BC in the regions of Italy known today as Tuscany and Latium. There is an obvious taste for exaggeration of decoration and the use of both figurative and geometric designs, often used together. In addition to more common decorative techniques such as engraving, embossing, and filigree, the Etruscans often used their own special technique called granulation, which involved the application of tiny granules of metal fused together to form a decorative motif. In Etruscan society, aristocratic women were known to have had extensive personal collections of gold and silver jewelry which included crowns, necklaces, earrings with special handmade decorations, and bullas, a typical clothing item used by Etruscan men and women to hold their cloaks or tunics in place. Each piece in this collection is hand crafted in Italy using the ancient "lost wax" method and is treated with an antiquing process.
