Product Description
In the 1960s and 70s, on the occasion of the American missions to space and the moon landings, Sobrero created 9 copper engravings, in homage to Neil Armstrong and the other astronauts. These works were numbered and franked by the post office with the Italian date on the day of each historic event. In the same period, he also dedicated a number of his works to the Russian efforts in the same field. The cube includes a number of the vivid dramatic works that typify Sobrero’s space exploration-inspired production in this period, while the text includes biographical information about his career, Carl Sagan as a source of inspiration for his artwork and his friendship and artistic affinity with AWard-winning Italian author Italo Calvino.
