Amphorae  Ancient Terracotta Reproductions

In ancient Mediterranean times amphorae were the preferred storage containers for all types of food and liquids used in daily life for example olives, wine, medicines, perfumes and oils. The original pieces in this collection were found on the ocean floor as they were used primarily for transport and trade. The patina used by the artisans in these reproductions simulate thousands of years of underwater incrustation.

These handmade pieces are inspired by Punic, Greek and Roman amphorae found in the Mediterranean Sea along the coast of the Marches Region of Italy. The originals are housed in the Museum of Amphorae in San Benedetto del Tronto. Made in Italy.
